A signature, the Fab Academy and all the rest

«That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind», Neil Armstrong, July 20, 1969

It will not be a giant leap for mankind, but it is not an everyday thing. On 28 November, in Frosinone, the collaboration between the Fab Lab Officine Giardino and the Chamber of Commerce has officially started. This cooperarion will bring the Fab Lab in the new headquarter in Via Marittima and the Fab Academy in Frosinone.

In short, on the one hand, there is the foresight of an institution, on the other the courage of our laboratory. In the middle, a shared agreement. For once, it is not just a signature on a document, but a kind of bridge between two worlds sometimes too far. And, above all, the starting of a coordinated and continuous collaboration for the local industries and artisanship.

The signing of the cooperation protocol, in fact, will lead not only to the Fab Academy (which has already been approved and recognized by the Fab Foundation of Boston), but also in a series of training course on the study and development of applications of digital fabrication. Thanks to the agreement, many other educational activities will be realized, such as 3D modeling, self-production of digital control machines, electronics and Arduino, interactive fabrication, drones, programming, robotics, project management, recycle design. The activities will be coordinated by Fab Lab Frosinone, with the special company Aspiin, Area Formazione e Innovazione. The Fab Academy and other activities of the Fab Lab Frosinone have a strong social value.

The Fab Lab will be an incubator of ideas and research closely related to our territory. In short, it will not be a giant leap, but we do not even think it is too small. Stay tuned.
